How do i celebrate the coming chinese new year?it is the easiest question ever?how can i avoid spending it with the respectful parents of mine at home. Watching the new year celebration festival of 2013 by cctv and visiting cousins as usual.what is more, due to the time i waste before,i would spend more time and energy to do some homework, like 3.2,5.3 etc...anyway.cause every day is a brand new day,i gotta carpe diem!

The following comment/idea is what I got from living in Canada for a long time:
Just like those immigrants or international students, most of us do not have the chance to travel back to our hometown to celebrate the Chinese New Year with friends and family. The main reason is that in the western culture, their ‘’New Year’’ is January 1st which is the most important holiday (including Christmas) of the year. And of course, there is a culture difference between Chinese and Canadian which means that no holiday during the Chinese New Year. Fortunately, my family and relatives are all in Canada so we still get to gather and celebrate the New Year together! Even though it’s not as fun as the old time back in my hometown where Chinese New Year is an official holiday, it’s better than nothing right? For my family, we just have a really nice traditional Chinese dinner at my grandparents’ house on the first day of the New Year. And that’s about it. We can’t stay up all night or spend more time with cousins and other family members because there is school and work next morning. Other than having a dinner with my family, there is one special event in the church too! (Yes, I am religious) In the Chinese Christian Church I go to, we do celebrate the Chinese New Year together. Most of the time, there will be some Christian and New Year related performance such as choir, music, and drama. The event usually close up with a dinner or lunch in the church where people get to chat and hang out a little bit. Boring eh?
