需要说一下，科龙虽然咬合力很一般但牙齿非常好，具有类似大多数掠食性鲨鱼的锯齿边缘，撕咬能力不错。约有75%的猎物（主要鹿和野猪及其它小猎物）当场杀死，靠撕裂四肢/腹部造成猎物失血。转自@驴鞭♂
靠感染、追踪多是由于对受攻击后、感染死亡前逃跑猎物的误解。这种策略对科龙是不经济的。科龙毒有一定衰竭和抗凝血作用，于其捕猎方式有补足，但与毒蛇快速作用的毒液效果相去甚远，带伤猎物可能逃出地盘落入他人之手，追踪亦耗费能量
对于水牛和体型较大的巨物，科龙无法控制，攻击后逃脱最终因感染限制行动说得通。
但对于行动受限的水牛（拴住），科龙同样可以速杀
Early in the morning of October 6, 1969, a pregnant female buffalo, which had already had four calves (about 400 kg and 9 years old), was tethered in the savanna near the village at the forest edge. At 0900 hr some boys were to bring it to water, but found it dead, with a large ora next to it. The Achilles tendon was bitten through and the belly had been ripped open. Recruiting villagers with spears and hounds, they returned, surrounded the ora, and killed it. The total length of the ora (measured by Father Schmutz) was between 275 and 280 cm.
